Chiropractic First Visit
Next, you will have a consultation with the doctor to discuss your health and any concerns you may have. After this, the doctor will examine you to test things such as your flexibility, reflexes and posture. He will also do any physical, neurological, or orthopedic testing that is necessary. All of these tests are non-invasive and can be done fully clothed.
X-ray studies are very helpful for the doctor to be able to plan the best recommendations for your care. It is usually of great benefit to see inside; this way he knows what has been happening and for how long. If the doctor feels from the examination that x-rays are necessary, those will be taken on your initial visit.
After the x-rays are taken, Dr. Marone will need time to review them and determine the best plan of treatment for you. At the end of your initial visit, he will schedule a time for you to come in and get a report of his findings. He will show you your x-rays and answer any questions you may have, such as frequency and length of treatment, and estimated cost. If Dr. Marone feels that care with another provider would be in your best interest, he will let you know that as well.
After your case has been accepted as appropriate for chiropractic care, treatment can begin immediately after the report of findings. This may consist of procedures such as spinal adjustment, soft tissue work, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, or exercise. The doctor will also give you recommendations for things that you can do at home to help your progress.
Nutrition First Visit
You may find that our methods are different from what you have experienced in the past.
How are we different from other methods you have tried?
Traditional medicine looks at the symptoms you are experiencing and then diagnoses and treats the symptoms with drugs or surgery to correct the problem. With Nutrition Response Testing, we do not diagnose or treat disease. We will analyze your body, looking for any inefficiently working organs or body systems that may be causing your symptoms (or which may lead to problems in the future). We will then design an individualized natural health improvement program based on the results of our testing.
What type of testing will be involved?
There are two non-invasive tests that may be performed. The first one is called a Heart Rate Variability Test (HRV). For that test you will be connected to electrodes which will monitor your heart rate at rest and stress. Its purpose is to evaluate your heart, nervous system, and overall physical fitness. This test takes about 12 minutes.
After the HRV and a time to learn about your health history, Dr. Marone will do reflex testing with you. How the reflex testing works can be illustrated by understanding how our bodies respond to hypothermia. If, for example, you were to fall into an icy river, your body would immediately do everything necessary to protect your vital organs at the expense of your extremities. (You can live without an arm, but not without a beating heart.) The blood would be sent to your heart and internal organs and away from your arms and legs, making your extremities weaker. When you became warm again, the blood would again circulate normally, returning the blood flow and corresponding strength to your arms and legs.
Reflex testing works according to this same concept. When your internal organs are strong, your body can allow energy to flow to your extremities. When stress is applied to a weakened organ, the arm will become weaker as the body rushes to protect the organs.
By using the body’s own neurological reflexes and acupuncture points, Dr. Marone will check each organ and system of your body to determine where there may be reduced functioning. Each reflex represents a specific organ, tissue, or function, and indicates the effect that energy, or the lack of energy, is having on the body.
In this test, the weakness or strength of your arm will tell the doctor where there are deficiencies in your body. With one hand he will contact the various reflex points. With the other hand he will test the muscle of your extended arm. If the reflex being contacted is active, the nervous system will respond by reducing energy to the extended arm, and the arm will weaken and drop. The drop signifies underlying stress or dysfunction, which can be affecting your health.
What will he do to help me?
After he has done the testing and analyzed the findings, Dr. Marone will recommend a program that is designed to meet the specific needs of your body. No two programs are alike, because no two people are alike. While three different people may experience similar symptoms, all three may have different things going on inside their bodies which are causing those symptoms. By pinpointing the inefficiently functioning areas and designing a specific program to target those areas, Dr. Marone can recommend diet modifications and supplements which will give your body the best possible chance of getting well and staying that way. At each subsequent visit, Dr. Marone will again monitor these reflexes and look for any additional layers of dysfunction that may appear once the initial ones are addressed.
