Chiropractic Care for Neck Pain
Is it hard to look over your shoulder? Is there a constant pulling or throbbing pain in your neck? Do you notice a “grinding” sound as you turn your head? We see neck pain in individuals more and more. The reason for this increase is because Americans spend more time sitting than we used to, putting stress and strain on our neck and upper back. Most of the time neck pain is not a serious problem and can be eliminated or greatly diminished with chiropractic care.
Symptoms of Neck Pain
The chiropractic approach is to locate the underlying cause of the problem. Most neck pain is due to strain caused by poor posture and spinal nerves. Sometimes neck pain is telling us that something more serious is going on. Please do not overlook the importance of having the following symptoms checked out for a proper diagnosis.
- Shooting pain down the arm or shoulder
- Loss of strength or numbness in hands or arms
- The inability to touch the chin to the chest
Causes of Neck Pain
Severe neck pain can be caused by anything from neck strain to meningitis. In my experience, the most common causes of neck pain stem from:
Due to improper use, muscles become tired and eventually strain, especially those located in the back of the neck and tops of the shoulders. When overuse becomes habitual, a stiff neck pain can become an issue.
These lead to misalignment, ligament weakness, and osteoarthritis.
Narrowing between the vertebrae and discs can reduce the space available for nerves to extend out from the spine. When nerve compression is present, this may be caused by herniated discs and bone spurs. Vertebrae are also often misaligned.
Car accidents and sports injuries often result in whiplash due to stretching the tissues of the neck as the neck is thrown into a back and forth motion.
Neck pain should not be ignored or undiagnosed. Complaints need assessment and treatment to prevent further, even more permanent, damage.
Neck Pain Treatment
With improved structure and function, neck pain often diminishes or totally disappears. A study published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics found that patients who received chiropractic care reported significant improvement in their neck function and a reduction in their neck pain whereas those taking pain-killers did not.
Chiropractor for Neck Pain
I specialize in the following treatments for neck pain, which may be used individually or in combination to provide easy and convenient solutions for your discomfort:
A gentle process to carefully meet your personal adjustment needs over time. I use many adjusting techniques from non-force to traditional, tailoring the techniques for each patient. Results are measured by exam, not symptoms, as it relates to your health as reported in the Winsor Study. and pain issues. Health insurance, budgets, and family plans are all a part of our healthy chiropractic philosophy of life.
Soft Tissue Chiropractic
Sports injury treatment handles muscle, tendon, and ligament imbalance, scar tissue, hardening, tension, trigger points, and ankylosis with soft tissue techniques. We treat all ages from the elderly down to newborns using muscular spinal fixes.
Electrical modalities may be used for inflammation, pain control, herniated discs, degeneration, bone spurs, sports and car injury, and soft tissue rehabilitation (muscle, tendon, imbalance, scars, hardening, tension, ankylosis).
The AK basics are used to supplement other care. In AK, the main premise is that every organ has a relationship with a corresponding muscle, termed the “viscero-somatic relationship.” (Viscero = organ and somatic = body)
Nutrition Response Testing
Silent causes can lead to recurring or chronic issues. A relatively healthy body can have weakness from deficiencies, toxins, past lifestyle, or immune challenges. Read the article my colleague wrote on Pasteur vs. Bechamp as it relates to toxins even back in the early 19th century.
Exercise & Meditation
Exercises or meditation technique basics assist in maintenance of your body. Acute care skills are for pain management of a condition.
